Otto Heino's Death

Wow...
This is a big one. One of my favorite ceramic artists passed away this last week. On July 21, Otto Heino passed.

This guy was probably one of the first "famous" potters that I met. He was known for his re-discovery of an ancient Chinese glaze which put him on the map...even for the Feds. This smooth matte yellow glaze was able to position him to receive onwards of $25,000 per piece and when this massive inflow of money came in, the Feds came a knockin on his door. Otto had to explain that he was selling pots and not pot! haha

many have to be wondering what's to become of the glaze recipe that Otto had stored up in his head.
